The next tourist season will see the first non-casino vessel function on the Mandovi River, in a bid to draw high-end tourists to Goa. High street Cruises and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The state government had floated an expression of interest for the project after which HSCEPL applied for the project. “We (Tourism Department) have given initial approval for the proposal and now they have to take permission from the Captain of Ports for mooring the vessel on the Mandovi River,” said Swapnil Naik, Director – Tourism, Goa.
According to a report by The Times of India, the initial proposal stated that HSCEPL would anchor the vessel below Mandovi Bridge. Naik also said that the department has asked the company to submit a detailed project report by June. The floating hotel will have 14 rooms, including a conference hall, restaurant, gymnasium, etc.
